What is Team Granderson?
Team Granderson was established by New York Yankees All-Star and 2009 MLBPA Man of the Year Curtis Granderson to raise money for the Grand Kids Foundation and also increase awareness of improving the quality of education for our nation’s youth through participation in races nationwide.
We feel that those who run for Team Granderson will find it extremely rewarding to not only achieving personal goals but also gaining the fulfillment of helping educational programs and students throughout the country.
Team Granderson runners are offered support while running in any event, whether it be your hometown 5K walk/run or the 2010 ING New York City Marathon.
FAQs
When did Team Granderson get started?
The 2010 ING New York City Marathon will be the first official Team Granderson event. In past years, many have run in other in 5K’s, half-marathons and marathons to raise money for the Grand Kids Foundation.
Where does the money go?
The Grand Kids Foundation has no operational costs, so 100% of the funds raised go back into school programs and initiatives as well as the purchasing of school supplies for both schools and students nationwide.
As a runner, what kind of support will I receive?
Team Granderson will fund your race gear to include shirt, shorts/pants, head wear and shoes. There are links on our training page to assist you with training for the 2010 ING New York City Marathon, and Yankees All-Star and team founder Curtis Granderson will host two special events for all of Team Granderson’s runners.
What about other events?
We welcome the opportunity to offer training support and encouragement as you represent Team Granderson in other events of your choosing. If you have a favorite 5K, triathlon, or some other endurance event in which you would like to assist in raising money for education, let us know!
