July 16, 2009 – Jeff Dye, the third-place finisher in Season 6 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, will perform a comedy set and serve as the auctioneer at Tigers All-Star Curtis Granderson’s wine tasting and bachelor auction Passport to the Wines of the World at Big Rock Chophouse/The Reserve in Birmingham on July 23. Tickets are $135 for VIP and $85 for general admission. Detroit Wine Organization members will receive a $10 discount on both VIP and general admission prices. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Grand Kids Foundation, which assists Michigan’s inner city schools and students. “I am really excited to have Jeff come out and perform at this event,” Granderson said while in St. Louis, where he scored the winning run for the American League in the 2009 All-Star Game. “I am positive that all in attendance will enjoy Jeff’s comedic style and he will add a great energy to the evening. Plus he is a big baseball fan, albeit for the Mariners.” Dye is one of the youngest headlining comedians in the business today. His comedy is clean but has been described as charmingly twisted. Jeff is from Seattle where he won the 10th Annual Giggles Laff Off and in 2008 finished 3rd in season 6 of Last Comic Standing. Last year Jeff was named King 5's 2008 Best Local Comedian and One of the Hot Comedians of 2009 in Campus Activities magazine. Last year Jeff performed at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal and this year in the Just for Laughs Festival in Chicago, which airs on TBS. Included in the “Passport to the Wines of the World” will be a silent auction of sports memorabilia, wine and entertainment packages as well as a bachelor auction where the highest bid will win an elegant dinner for two with Granderson, All-Star pitcher Edwin Jackson or young star Ryan Perry. Tickets include entry into the event, tasting of over 300 wines and Big Rock Chophouse brews, a Wine Tails tasting, valet parking and appetizers. VIP tickets also include entry into a VIP reception at 6:30 p.m., access to a special VIP wines as well as a souvenir wine glass to take home. The event will feature over 300 wines from five continents, including local wines from Detroit and throughout the state of Michigan.
